A very efficient and fast way to eliminate verruca and warts, the Falknor’s needling method has been around for over 45 years,
providing an attractive solution for people who have demanding schedules and cannot make regular appointments, as it frequently only
requires a single treatment.
Falknor’s needling uses an empty sterile needle to puncture and break down the verruca. This causes a little bleeding, which activates
your body’s immune system response. Once the immune system becomes aware of the virus, it starts the process of self-healing, destroying
the diseased cells.
The procedure involves three stages:
1. Firstly, we give you local anaesthesia to make your verruca and surrounding area are numb before the procedure.
2. Once the area to be treated is completely numb, we proceed to repeatedly puncture the verruca with a hypodermic needle. This pushes the virus into the deeper layers of skin so that your body’s immune system can come into contact with it and start the self-healing process.
3. Finally, we apply a dry dressing to cover the small wound. This must be kept dry for at least 24 hours and you should avoid walking or driving while your foot is still under the effect of anaesthesia.
The anaesthetic will start to wear off in 2 to 3 hours, but do not be concerned if it takes a little longer as the effects vary from person to person.
After 48 hours showering is permitted and life can continue as normal, although you may experience minor soreness for 2 to 3 days post-treatment.
Usually 1-2 treatments are needed to completely eradicate verruca. Most clients don’t see a full change in the skin until 16 weeks after the treatment, hence you may not see complete results for 4 months.
It is worth noting that no single treatment for verruca and warts is 100% effective, and there is no guarantee that the verruca will not return.
There are many treatments for a verrucae / wart although the results are mixed and the treatments are often painful.
One huge advantage over other treatments such as cryosurgery and caustic is that only one session of treatment is usually needed. If you have multiple lesions then still only the “mother lesion” needs to be treated as a systemic immune response is initiated.
Needling is an effective treatment, often working following the first treatment.
There are very few contraindications as needling does not destroy skin tissue but as with all procedures the outcomes are influenced by your general health and medical history.
Please Note: Other Treatments for verrucae / verruca are available include cryosurgery (freezing), the use of strong acids, Or Swift Microwave Therapy.
It is worth noting that NO single treatment for verrucae / verruca warts is 100% effective, and there is no guarantee that the verrucae / verruca warts will not return.
A Review of 46 Cases
Until recently, there was very little information on success rates. However, a recent paper has demonstrated:
