Summer Feet

Whilst we all have our feet out more for the next few months- please be careful with them. Here are a few summer hazards to consider.

Sweaty feet
Feet have thousands of sweat glands.
-Air your feet.
-Wash your feet.
-Change your socks.
-Keep hydrated.
 
-Wash your feet daily.
-Dry between your toes.
-Alternate your shoes.
-Spray your shoes with a cleansing spray.
-Keep toenails trimmed.
-Wear socks with anti-bacterial properties such as bamboo.
 
Support
Summer shoes generally have less support for your foot and ankle, meaning sprains are more likely.
-If you get a sprain, rest, ice, compress and elevate.
-Wear the right shoes for the activity, wear walking shoes if going for a walk.
Sunburn
Never forget to apply sun cream to your feet.
-Use an aloe vera based after sun.
-Don’t pop blisters.
-Keep the area clean and dry.
-Apply sun cream to your feet regularly throughout the day.
Sharps
It’s tempting to not wear shoes at the park or beach but there are always dangers around.
-If you are confident, remove the sharp with tweezers if small.
-Use an antiseptic swab to clean the area.
-Cover with a sterile dressing.
-We have emergency appointments if you can’t remove the object.
-Don’t walk around bare feet.
-Choose summer shoes with side protection.
